Browner Records Top-10 Finish At Barnard Collegiate

STANFORD, Calif. - Senior Tasha Browner posted a ninth place finish at the Peg Barnard Collegiate at the par-72, 6,154 yard Stanford Golf Course, Sunday.
Browner followed up an opening-round 72, Saturday with a 76 in the second round to post a 36-hole total of 148 (+4). Browner finished five shots back of tournament champion Mikaela Parmlid of USC, who recorded a two-round total of 143 (-1). Browner's effort was her school record 12th career top-10 finish and her fifth this season.
Freshman Jay-Lee Longbottom, who began the final round tied for 27th, carded a second round 75 to finish in a tie for 16th (152, +8). With the top-25 effort, Longbottom has posted four top-25 finishes this spring. Freshman Kim Welch completed the tournament in a tie for 26th (154, +10).
The Cougars finished seventh in the 14-team field with a total of 617, posting their fourth consecutive top-seven finish of the spring season. WSU ended the event ahead of Pacific-10 Conference rivals UCLA and Oregon State. Washington captured the team title with a two round total of 593.
The Cougars were among eight Pacific-10 Conference teams competing at the tournament. The Barnard Classic served as the final event for the Cougars before the Pac-10 Championships - hosted by WSU - at the Walla Walla Country Club in Walla Walla, Wash., April 22-24.
