WSU Women Finish in Seventh at Peg Barnard California Collegiate

STANFORD, Calif. - Led the third place tie by Jay-Lee Longbottom, the Washington State women's golf team finished in seventh place at the Peg Barnard California Collegiate at the Par 72, 5,960 yard Stanford Golf Course at Stanford, Calif.

Longbottom shot rounds of 77 and 74 to earn third place, her highest finish of the season, and was just three strokes back of the first place score of 148 by Wendra Liang of Stanford. Kim Welch and Maria Kostina continued to add accolades to their golfing resumes, as they each finished in a tie for 17th, with Kostina earning her sixth consecutive Top 25 finish, and Welch tying for third place all-time in career Top 25 finishes with Jill Johnson at 16.

Stephanie Parsley finished in 66th place, followed by Lindsey Bogdon in only her fourth event of the season finishing at 67th.

As a team the Cougars average 319 over the two day tournament, and finished ahead of Pac-10 rival Oregon State. The University of Denver took team championship honors with an overall score of 621.

The Cougars take the greens again at the Pac-10 Championships at Corvallis, Ore. April 24-25.
