Kim Welch Comes Back To Win The Title At The Peg Barnard Collegiate

STANFORD, Calif. - Junior Kim Welch came out swinging as she shot her lowest single round score (68) of the season earning her the title at the Peg Barnard California Collegiate, Sunday.
Welch, who is currently ranked No. 8 by Golfstat in its Women's Cup Rankings, dominated the 73-person field as she shot the lowest score of the tournament firing four-under in the final round. Welch finished the 36-hole tournament at 2-under (142) at the par 72, 6,159 yard Stanford Golf Course.
The Sacramento, Calif. native's victory at the Peg Barnard California Collegiate marks her fifth win of the spring season and her eighth career triumph.
The Cougars moved up two spots to a fourth place finish, completing the 36-hole tournament ahead of No. 29 Oregon and No.31 San Francisco. The women shot a 302 (+14) during the final, bettering their first round score by six.
Sophomore Anastasia Kostina finished just one shot out of the top 5, putting her in a three way tie for sixth, while her sister Maria Kostina bettered her score by one, completing the tournament knotted in a tie for 30th.
Jay Lee Longbottom bettered her score by five strokes, moving her up 10 spots and finished in a tie for 54th, while Stephanie Parsley finished in a two way tie for 70th to round out the Cougar contingent.
The women will return to Pullman to prepare for the Pac-10 Championships hosted by UCLA at the Saticoy Country Club in Camarillo, Calif. April 19, 20, & 21.
