Women's Rowing to Face Stiff Competition At The Head Of The Lake Regatta

What's Happening This Week: The Washington State University women's rowing squad finishes up its fall season at the Head of the Lake Regatta, which is hosted by the Lake Washington Rowing Club, Sunday, Nov. 9, at Montlake Cut, Seattle...the Cougars will compete against Stanford, UC-Davis, Portland, Michigan State, Oregon State, Syracuse, Virginia, Southern Oregon, Western Washington, and Washington...Saturday morning, the Cougars will face off against the Huskies in the pairs race...joining the varsity eight in the event will be Emily Collins and Lina Brazinskaite...the pairs race is not an NCAA sanctioned race, but has been part of the Head of the Lake Regatta tradition for quite some time.
WSU Head Coach Jane LaRiviere on Head of the Lake Regatta: "We should get an early indication of how our training is coming together. We're looking forward to the competitive experience."
What Happened Last Week: Cougar rowing hosted the first ever Head of the Snake, Friday, Oct. 31 in a scrimmage against Gonzaga...only one Gonzaga boat competed against the three top varsity boats for WSU in a 5,000 meter race...WSU's varsity eight boat was victorious by 18 seconds...the Cougars' second varsity eight finished second with Gonzaga's varsity eight and WSU's third varsity eight boat rounding out the race respectively...the novice crew also raced, but their times were not recorded.
