WSU Rowers Capture First Place Finish at Canada Games

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND, Canada - Washington State University rowing's rising sophomore Katie Dick and incoming transfer Lisa Roman helped lead British Columbia's women's four boat to first place Friday in the finals at the Canada games held at the Southwest River on Canada's Prince Edward Island. Dick (Victoria), Roman (Langley) and the rest of the British Columbia team captured the gold with a time of 4:08.36, over three seconds ahead of Ontario in second with a time of 4:11.63. Four Cougar rowers competed in the Canada Games, as Sarah Powell (North Saanich) joined her college classmates on the British Columbia team and incoming transfer Jessica Start (Saskatoon) rowed for Saskatchewan. In total, the Cougar rowers captured gold, in two events, silver in two events and bronze in three events. Finals - Friday, Aug. 21, 2009
