Cougar Rowing Advances to Grand Finals in Three of Four Events

GOLD RIVER, Calif. - Three of the four Washington State University women's rowing crews advanced to the grand finals at the Pacific-10 Conference Championships at Lake Natoma, Sunday.
"It's been a pretty successful day and I'm looking forward to the rest of the day," WSU head coach Jane LaRiviere said.
The WSU second varsity eight had the best finish of the day for the Cougars, placing second in elimination heat one behind Stanford with a time of 6:37.40. The Cougars will race in lane three of the grand final in the event at 2:40 p.m. today.
In the varsity eight competition, the Cougars placed third in elimination heat two, coming in with a time of 6:35.20, less than two seconds behind Washington. WSU will race in lane six in the grand final in the last event of the day at 3:20 p.m.
The Cougars' novice eight boat also advanced to the grand final, placing second in the second elimination heat with a time of 6:55.90. WSU will race in lane four in the grand final at 2 p.m.
In the women's varsity four, the Cougars placed fourth in elimination heat two with a time of 7:41.40 and will race against Gonzaga in the petite final at 1:20 p.m.
