Women's Crew Goes Undefeated At The Clemson Classic

Clemson, S.C. - The Washington State University women's varsity eight and second varsity eight finished strong at the Clemson Classic at Lake Hartwell, Sunday.

The No. 12 ranked Cougar varsity eight beat No. 20 Tennessee and Clemson in a close race. Despite a stiff headwind, WSU came out on top with a time of 6:56.5. The Lady Volunteers finished two seconds behind the Cougars recording a time of 6:58.3, and Clemson came in last with a time of 7:09.6.

It was a photo finish in the second varsity eight competition with the Cougars edging Tennessee by 1/10th of a second. WSU recorded a time of 6:54.6 compared to Tennessee's time of 6:54.7, and Clemson's time of 7:21.1.

The Cougars are back in action next weekend at the Opening Day Regatta hosted by the University of Washington at Montlake Cut in Seattle, Wash. This is the last regatta for the Cougars before Pacific-10 Championships, May 18.
