SPOKANE, Wash. - The Washington State women's rowing squad started the spring season with a splash as they beat the Gonzaga Bulldog's in five of the six match-ups in the Fawley Cup Regatta at Silver Lake, Saturday.

In the varsity eight race the Cougars raced the 2000m course in a time of 6:33.17, besting Gonzaga by nearly 15 seconds. The novice eight team was also victorious after finishing half a minute ahead of Gonzaga completing the race in 7:03.5.

WSU also beat the Bulldog's in the second novice eight race, the varsity four "B" race, and the junior varsity eight competition.

The only Cougar loss was in the varsity four "A" race when Gonzaga edged WSU by 2/100s of a second to capture the final race of the day.
