WSU Faces Nationally-Ranked North Carolina at Rainbow Wahine Showdown

What's Happening: For the second straight game, the Washington State Cougars take on a nationally-ranked opponent. The Cougars face No. 14 (AP)/No. 15 (ESPN/USA Today) North Carolina, Friday, Nov. 26 in the first game of the Waikiki Beach Marriott Rainbow Wahine Showdown. Tip is at 2:15 p.m. Pacific. On Monday, Nov. 22, WSU met No. 20 (ESPN/USA Today) Nebraska in Pullman. Rainbow Wahine Showdown: The Cougars are one of eight teams participating in the Thanksgiving weekend tournament hosted by the University of Hawai'i. The other six teams are North Carolina, Illinois, Long Beach State, Gonzaga, Mississippi and North Carolina Central. Last Game Recap: In a back and forth affair that featured 15 lead changes and 14 ties, including 13 lead changes and nine ties in the first half alone, the Cougars fell to No 21 Nebraska 87-79 in non-conference women's basketball action Monday, Nov. 22 at Beasley Coliseum. Carly Noyes led WSU with 19 points on 9-of-14 shooting. Ireti Amojo added 13 while Hana Potter added 10. Making Some Noyes: With 12 blocks this season Carly Noyes increased her in that category to 69 and has moved past Bianca McCall for sixth on the school's all-time list. Noyes is just four blocks away from fifth position on the list (Kathy Weber, 73). Lending An Assist: Rosetta Adzasu's nine assists vs. Nebraska tied for the best single-game performance by a Pac-10 player this season. Adzasu is fourth in the Pac-10 in assists (5.8/game) and leads the team in scoring (11.3 points a game) News & Notes: Junior point guard April Cook (back), WSU's leading scorer last season, has sat out the Cougars' first four games this season and her status is day-to-day...the Cougars three true freshman (Hana Potter, Sage Romberg, Brandi Thomas) have started at least one game this young season. Romberg has started all four...three Cougars (Rosetta Adzasu 11.3, Carly Noyes 10.8, Sage Romberg 10.5) are averaging double-figures in points...Seven Cougs have reached double figures in scoring in at least one game this season... WSU is first in Pac-10 in free throw percentage .742 (46-62).
