FIRST GLANCE
The Washington State University women's basketball team (1-0) kicks off a four-game road trip with a swing through the Midwest, beginning with Kansas State (0-2) Friday. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. (PT) at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan, Kan.

The Cougars will continue their first road trip of the 2009-10 season at Nebraska Sunday at 12:05 p.m.

WSU's match-up with Kansas State will be televised live by FSN Kansas City. Brent Stover has the call, with Patti Phillips serving as analyst.

LAST YEAR AGAINST KANSAS STATE
WSU fell to 18th-ranked Kansas State 74-58 at Friel Court, Dec. 28, 2008. The Cougars outscored Kansas State 13-4 in the final six-plus minutes of the first half and entered intermission down only three points (33-30). WSU was able to get back to within two points on three different occasions in the second half, but Kansas State's final run put WSU away. Once the Cougars clawed back to a score of 53-51 with 10:14 remaining, Kansas State closed the game on a 21-7 run to notch the victory. Then-freshman guard Jazmine Perkins led the Cougars with 18 points, while Rosie Tarnowski and April Cook added 10 points each.

THE SERIES
The Cougars are looking for their first victory over the Wildcats since the first meeting between the two teams in 1980. This year's match-up will mark the third time in four meetings that the game will have been played in Manhattan.

WSU AGAINST THE BIG 12
The Cougars are 6-13 all-time against the Big 12 Conference, and will be looking for their first win over a team from the league since Dec. 5, 1998, when WSU knocked off Colorado 87-76 in Pullman.

The Cougars' last road victory over a team from the Big 12 was Nov. 24, 1990, when they defeated Texas A&M 71-54. WSU is 3-9 against Big 12 teams all-time when playing away from Pullman.

LAST TIME OUT
WSU won its 2009-10 season opener Nov. 15 at Friel Court, defeating UC Davis 64-54 in front of 1,206 fans. Freshman guard KiKi Moore scored a team-high 17 points in the first regular-season game of her career, leading the Cougars to their first season-opening win since 2005-06, a 66-57 victory at home over Pepperdine. Moore also recorded a game-high four steals, including one that sealed the victory for the Cougars. Sophomore guard April Cook added 14 points and a game-high eight rebounds.
