Hello! Some of you might remember me, my name is Nikki Stratton and I played basketball for the Cougs the past four years.

After graduating from WSU in May I was prepared to transition into a life of coaching. But with the hiring of Head Coach June Daugherty I was offered the job as a Grad Assistant. Not wanting to leave the great town of Pullman just yet, I took it and started my new life on the other side of the sidelines.

To best explain my job, I'd say I deal with everything technology-driven, like video, digital, game tape and basically all things technology related. Most of the time I handle what I like to call "technostrophes." This is a happy mixture of catastrophe's and all around bad luck when it comes to technology. I'm sure that everyone has experienced one of these sometime in his or her life.

I am also in charge of game exchange. This is the process of giving and sending out game tapes to other teams around the country. Now most of the time it is pretty easy but other times I am forced to find a lost game tape that usually is sitting in an airport 5,000 miles across the country. Although frustrating, it adds a little spice to my life.

The final part of my job involves breaking down every single game we play as well as our opponents' games. This allows the coaching staff to watch game film in a simplified manner. However, this means that I am in front of a computer, DVD player and TV for many, many hours each day.

I truly enjoy working with June and her staff each day. I love having the opportunity to learn about the game of basketball and I hope that it will carry on towards my career as a coach. I am very thankful for the opportunity that June has given me.
