Two Cougar Women's Basketball Games Selected for National Broadcast

Sept. 7, 2010

PULLMAN - The Washington State University women's basketball team will play an impressive nonconference slate, in addition to the rigors of its 18-game Pacific-10 Conference schedule in 2010-11, and two games have already been selected for live national television broadcasts.

The Cougars' match-ups at Washington (Jan. 30) and at California (Feb. 12) were selected as part of the Pac-10's 20-game package with FSN, and will be televised nationally. Additional games could be picked up for regional broadcast, which will be announced later this season.

Each of the nine games on WSU's nonconference schedule are against teams who made the postseason in 2009-10. Included in the nonconference slate is a game against Gonzaga in Spokane. The Cougars and Zags are renewing a rivalry that had remained dormant for eight years.

The Cougars will also play in the Rainbow Wahine Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii, Nov. 26-28. The tournament features Hawaii, North Carolina, Illinois, Georgia Southern, Gonzaga, Long Beach State and San Diego State.

Six of the Cougars' nine Pac-10 opponents reached the postseason in 2009-10, including Stanford, who has reached the Final Four in each of the last three seasons, and California, who won the 2010 Women's National Invitation Tournament.

WSU is scheduled to open its 2010-11 campaign on the road against Saint Mary's, Nov. 12, in Moraga, Calif.
