PULLMAN, Wash. - Three Washington players finished with double-doubles to outlast Washington State 72-70 Saturday in women's Pacific-10 Conference basketball action at Friel Court.

The Huskies (15-12 overall, 11-7 in Pac-10 action) were led by Jamie Redd's 27 points to go with her ten rebounds. Malinda Lynch poured in 19 points while pulling down 11 boards and Amber Hall finished with 13 points and 17 rebounds.

The Cougars (11-16 overall, 5-13) put four players in double-figures in their final action of the season. Jennifer Kerns and Tricia Lamb each hit four three-pointers to pace 18 and 17 point efforts, respectively. Cathy McNeely finished with 15 points and Victoria Harrod added 12.

The first four minutes of the game were a near even battle that saw WSU take a slim 7-6 edge. At 15:05, Katie Nyseth's jumper ignited a 9-0 Cougar run that put WSU ahead 16-6 at 12:13. For the next five minutes, Washington would answer, mounting a 12-5 run behind four Redd points. Kerns accounted for the only Cougar points in that span and kept WSU's lead alive, 21-18, at 5:58.

Kerns continued to lead the Cougars, scoring six of their next eight points to give WSU a 29-22 advantage with 2:22 to play in the first half. But in the last 2:05 the Huskies would nail a trio of three-pointers, Redd hitting two, and WSU could only manage a McNeely jumper in the closing seconds of the half to take a 31-31 score into the intermission.

In the second half, play was even tighter. WSU would assume its biggest lead of the half, five points, at 16:18 when a McNeely trey made it 40-35. Washington would fight to assume its biggest lead at 10:01 when a Jill Pimley layup put the Huskies ahead 53-47. Meanwhile, the second half would see five tie scores and two lead changes.

Down four, 61-57, with 3:57 to play, Kerns again looked to keep the Cougs alive. A layup at 3:33 and a pair of free throws at 2:46 tied the game for what would be the last time. At 2:34, Redd answered with a lay-in. At 1:58, she added a free throw. At 1:57, Lynch followed a missed Redd free throw attempt and the Huskies completed a 5-0 run that took only 72 seconds.

With 30 seconds left on the clock the Washington lead was still five, 69-64, with Lynch at the charity stripe to make it six. Instead, her shot went hard long and Lamb not only grabbed the rebound but raced the floor to nail a three-pointer and cut the lead to two, 69-67, with 17 seconds left.

WSU's pressing defense looked to make a quick steal but settled for a foul on Molly Hills. Hills would walk away making two, but only thanks to a lane violation assessed to WSU on her second attempt, which not only missed but rebounded to the Cougars.

Trailing by four points with 16 ticks left, the Cougars looked for a miracle and found it in Lamb. Well beyond the three-point arch, Lamb banked in a trey that not only cut the game to one with five seconds left, 71-70, but also made Lamb the WSU single-season record holder with 69 three-point baskets.

Again WSU fouled Mills. After making her first attempt, the Huskies' fifth made free throw in 15 chances, Mills missed her second and Harrod pulled down the rebound. Looking for a quick transition hoop, the Cougars' managed to get the ball into Lamb's hands for a game-tying look from 17 feet, but the shot failed and WSU fell.
