SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Shannon Howell wanted Oregon State to make a point. She and her teammates made several points.

Howell scored 21 points to help the Beavers beat Washington State 67-43 in a first round game of the Pac-10 tournament on Friday night and snap a season-worst four-game losing streak.

"We're not here to play around," said Howell, a transfer from Nebraska. "We're all about business. Arizona shouldn't take us lightly."

The Beavers play second-seeded Arizona, which shared the Pac-10 title with Stanford, on Saturday. Oregon State was eliminated by the Wildcats in the quarterfinals last year.

Hollye Chapman grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds as the seventh-seeded Beavers (15-13) defeated the 10th-seeded Cougars for the 11th straight time, its longest current streak against any opponent.

Oregon State dominated the boards, outrebounding the Cougars 50-37. Chapman had seven of the Beavers' 26 offensive rebounds.

"We allowed them way too many shots," said Washington State coach Sherri Murrell. "They played harder and they got the rebounds."

Stephanie Singer led Washington State (6-22) with 11 points. The Cougars lost their third straight first-round game. The Cougars, who ended the regular season with a 75-72 victory over Arizona State, lost their 20th game in the past 22.

Howell scored more than 20 points for the sixth time this season.

"She was aggressive on defense and gave herself second and third opportunities," said Oregon State coach Judy Spoelstra. "We put a lot of pressure on them."

Howell's 3-pointer gave the Beavers a 49-28 lead with 11:20 remaining to play and Washington State could get no closer than 17 points the rest of the way.

Oregon State went on a 10-0 run midway through the first half to take a 17-11 advantage, and never trailed again.
