Box Score

EUGENE, Ore. - Washington State freshman Kate Benz scored a game-high 17 points to lead a trio of Cougars in double figures but it wasn't enough as the Oregon Ducks defeated WSU 74-52 in Pacific-10 Conference women's basketball action, Thursday at McArthur Court.

Benz recorded her eighth game scoring in double-digits this season and her sixth in the last nine games. Junior Jessica Perry notched her sixth double-digit scoring game of the season with 11 points and freshman Nikki Stratton added a season-high 10 points for the Cougars (5-18, 1-13 Pac-10).

Oregon's Eleanor Haring led a quartet of Ducks in double-digits with 16 points. Kedzie Gunderson (13 points), Brandi Davis (13 points) and Andrea Bills (11 points) completed the contingent.

Oregon (12-11, 4-9) jumped out to a 9-0 lead as Bills accounted for six of the Duck's points in the run. Aided by 3-pointers from Stratton and Perry, the Cougars closed their deficit to five at 13-8.

The Ducks extended their lead to as much as 13 before heading into the half with a 36-25 advantage.

Oregon made five of its first six shots en route to a 15-of-29 (51.7 percent) shooting performance in the first half. Conversely, WSU was 9-of-26 (34.6 percent) from the field in the first half; however, four of those field goals came from beyond the arc.

Oregon began the second half in the same manner as it did the opening 20 minutes. The Ducks scored the first 13 points of the second half to extend their lead to 24 at 49-25 with 16:02 remaining. Oregon began the second half converting 13 of its first 18 shots.

The Cougars were without the services of Adriane Ferguson and Kim Dugan. Ferguson is recovering from the effects of a concussion sustained in the UCLA game, Feb. 7. Dugan had an emergency appendectomy, Feb. 2 and is out the next 2-4 weeks.

WSU returns to action Saturday, Feb. 14 at Oregon State for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
