Head Coach Garrett Clegg Signs Another Golfer
Nov. 15, 2011
PULLMAN, Wash. - Ryan Books has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete in men's golf at Washington State, Cougar Head Coach Garrett Clegg announced, Tuesday. Books, a Seattle native, currently attends Seattle Preparatory where he has played golf on the varsity team for four years under head coach Tim Reilly. Starting in the fall of 2012, he will represent Washington State as a member of the men's golf team. "I'm excited that Ryan decided to be a Cougar," quoted head coach Garrett Clegg. "He comes from a great Cougar family. Ryan has had an exceptional fall and has the potential to be a spectacular player in our program." Books' accomplishments include: finishing tied for fourth at the AJGA Genesis Jr. Championship in San Diego, shooting 6-under after three rounds; placing top 10 in the state for the Washington Junior Golf Association; and individually winning the Metro Championship his senior year. Books stated, "I am excited to attend Washington State because I get to play golf everyday and compete at the highest level, all while attending a great university!" "The best part of my game is my accuracy with my driver and irons," claimed Books. "Most of the time, I keep my drives in play which allows me to score with my other clubs."
