Men's Golf Travels Westward In First Attempt To Top The Huskies

Pullman, Wash. - What's Happening This Week: The Washington State men's golf team travels to Auburn, Wash. this week to compete in the Opus NW Husky Invitational held at the par-72, 7,050 yard Washington National Golf Club...the event consists of 54 holes of medal play with team and individual titles at stake...Monday's play includes 36 holes of competition, while a single-round of 18 is slated for Tuesday...the field will begin tournament play on both Monday and Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. from the first and 10th tees.
The Field: The field of nine pairs Washington State up against familiar competition as the Cougars will face five Pac-10 foes...Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA, Cal, Washington...UC Davis, Loyola Marymount, and San Diego State round out the field for the Opus NW Husky Invitational.
Traveling for the Cougars: Five Cougars will be traveling to take a swing at victory in Auburn, Wash. on Monday...the Cougars will travel the same five golfers who participated in their last tournament, Mean Green Classic... senior Chris Collins, redshirt senior Jordan Madison, senior Kevin Chen, junior Jordan Mason, and freshman Nick Grigsby.
Last Time Out: Mean Green Classic: Junior Jordan Mason, who was tied for first after round one, finished the tournament with a third round score of 77 where he finished with a (215, -1) giving him a tie for eighth place...joining Mason in the top 10 was Senior Chris Collins...Collins had the best day of any Cougar golfer, firing back to back WSU lowest score rounds with a 3-under 69 in round two followed by an even par 72 to wrap up the tournament....Collins moved up from a tie for fifth after day one to earn sole possession of the four spot in the Mean Green Classic's top 10 scoring a (210, -6)...freshman Nick Grigsby was consistent in his first tournament as a Cougar... Grigsby shot three straight 2-over 74 rounds finishing with a (222, +6)...redshirt senior Jordan Madison strung together a solid tournament finishing 16th giving Madison his 16th career top-25 finish he tallied a (220, +4)...senior Kevin Chen followed suit racking up his 11th top-25 finish. Chen finished the day in a tie for 22nd place after tallying a (221,+5).

Last week at the Mean Green Classic redshirt senior Jordan Madison strung together a solid tournament finishing 16th giving Madison his 16th career top-25 finish.
