Men's Golf Heads South for U.S. Intercollegiate

What's Happening This Week : The Washington State University men's golf team travels to Stanford, Calif for the U.S. Intercollegiate...the two-day, 54-hole event will be played at the par-70, 6,727-yard Stanford University Golf Course...the tournament begins Saturday and will conclude Sunday...live stats are available at www.golfstat.com. The Field: The Cougars are paired with a 17-team field consisting of Pacific-10 Conference rivals Stanford (No.4), Washington (No. 8), Arizona State (No. 21), UCLA (No.18), USC (No.3), California (No.34), Oregon and Oregon State... also participating are Chico State, Northwestern, Pepperdine, Santa Clara, St. Andrews University (Scotland), UC Davis (No.33), UC Irvine and Texas (No.15)...rankings are according to Golfweek. Traveling for the Cougars: Five Cougars will be traveling to Stanford to take a swing at victory...the Cougar contingent includes juniors Kevin Tucker and Austin Hurt, sophomore Nick Ellis and freshmen Trent Sanders and Paul Mitzel. Last Time Out: The Cougar men were led by a solid performance from freshman Trent Sanders at the Stevinson Ranch Invitational...Sanders posted an even-par three-round score of 216 to finish in a tie for fifth...sophomore Nick Ellis and junior Austin Hurt each finished in the top 25...the Cougars posted a team score of 879 (+15) to finish in third place.
