THE EVENT
The Washington State men's golf team opens its 2012 spring season by traveling to Goodyear, Ariz., where it will host the Re-Bath Snowman Getaway, Feb 27-28, at the Palm Valley Golf Club.
THE COURSE
The Palm Valley Golf Club, a championship-level golf course located in Goodyear, Ariz., provides the setting for the 54-hole event...the course will play at Par 72 and 7,015 yards for the Snowman Getaway.
THE FIELD
The 16-team tournament field includes host Washington State as well as Bradley, British Columbia, Gonzaga, Loyola (Md.), Missouri State, UMKC, UNC Greensboro, North Dakota, St. Bonaventure, St. John's, Seattle, South Dakota, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, Utah State and Utah Valley. Individuals from Arizona State, UCLA and Western Texas College will also compete.
THE SCHEDULE AND FORMAT (54 holes)
Sunday, Feb. 26: Practice Round
Monday, Feb. 27: First and second rounds (36 holes)
Tuesday, Feb. 28: Final round (18 holes)
The format is an 8 a.m. shotgun start both Monday and Tuesday...teams will play five student-athletes and count four scores per round.
LAST TIME OUT
The Washington State men's golf team finished 11th in the Gifford Collegiate at CordeValle, Nov. 2, finishing at 1141 (+81)...the top Cougar finisher was senior Trent Sanders who ended the tournament at 10-over (223), tied for 30th...other Cougars competing were junior Hank Frame, tied for 50th (+15, 228); freshman Michael Anderson, tied for 62nd (+19, 232); senior Branden Dalton, tied for 64th (+20, 233); sophomore Jarrett Foote, 68th (+24, 237); and senior Paul Mitzel 72nd, (+31, 244).
