Cougars Add New Golfer
Jan. 9, 2007 PULLMAN, Wash. - PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University Men's Golf Coach Walt Williams has added freshman transfer Austin Hurt to his team roster for the spring semester. Hurt comes to WSU as a transfer from Arizona State University. Prior to ASU Hurt attended Bainbridge High School in Bainbridge Island, Wash. Hurt earned four varsity letters in golf over his high school career and participated in the 3A state golf tournament three years straight. "Austin is a player I recruited coming out of Bainbridge Island after a standout junior career in the state of Washington. But at that time he was set on going to ASU. He wasn't given the chance he was hoping for there and decided to come back home and give it a shot at WSU. We believe he will be a nice addition to our team and look forward to his contributions to our program in the next few years," Williams said. During his junior year Hurt's team won the state high school golf tournament while he placed 13th as an individual. As a senior Hurt improved to second at the 3A state golf tournament and helped his team to a fourth place finish. Hurt also recorded a second place finish at the Washington Junior Championship.
