Madison Leads Field After First Two Rounds Of Turtle Bay Intercollegiate

Kahuku, Hawaii - Washington State's Jordan Madison opened up the final fall tournament for the Cougars by firing a 2-under 142 and put himself in a first place tie after the first two rounds of the UH/Turtle Bay Intercollegiate at the Links at Turtle Bay Resort, a par 72, 7,199 yard course Monday.
Madison posted a tournament low 70 (-2) in the first round, and followed it up with an even-par 72 in the second 18 holes to put him in the tie for the lead with Alvaro Velasco of Coastal Carolina. Madison scorched nine birdies through the first 36 holes, the most by any player. Madison is looking to finish in the Top 25 for the fifth time in six events this fall, and in the Top 10 for the fourth time. He has already posted one Top 5 finish.
WSU currently sits in eighth place, but is only five shots out of a Top 5 finish. The Cougars shot an opening round 300 (+12), and followed it up with a 304 (+16) in the second to put them at 604 (+28) for the day. The Cougars led the field in number of birdies sunk, by firing a total of 23 in the first two rounds.
Senior Ryan Camp improved from his first round 79 by five strokes with a 2-over 74 in his second. Camp sits in a tie for 35th with sophomore teammate Paul Knue. Both ended their first day of competition with a 153 (+9) and are just three shots out of the Top 25. Sophomore Alex Dunlop shot his best round in the first with a 4-over 76 and finished tied for 64th. Freshman Kevin Chen rounded out the Cougar contingent with a 160.
The final round of play will tee-off Tuesday, Nov. 4 with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m.
