Men's Golf Lands Fourth At Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The Cougars concluded the fall season by finishing fourth, with a three-round score of 865 (+13), at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate on Tuesday in Las Cruces.

Senior Nick Ellis tied for seventh overall and carded a final round score of 70 (-1), finishing the tournament at 213 (E).

Sophomore Hank Frame secured a 16th place finish with a third-round score of 71 (E).

"Nick Ellis and Hank Frame had good rounds and moved up in the field today," said WSU Head Coach Walt Williams.

WSU finishes ahead of Idaho, Boise State, Air Force, Utah, Nebraska and Kansas.

Two additional Cougars finished in the top 25. Junior Trent Sanders carded a three-round total of 219 (+6) and freshman Kent Hagen finished the final tournament of the season tied for 25th carding a 220 (+7).

Redshirt-freshman Kyle Hurt concluded the day finishing tied for 41st shooting 11-over-par with a three-round total of 224.

"We had a pretty successful fall and we don't compete again until late February, so we'll have time to work on some things before getting started back up in the spring," said Williams.

The next time the Cougars will compete will be at the Snowman Invitational in Chandler, Ariz., Feb. 21-22.
