Cougar Men Locked In Fifth Place Tie After Day One At Northwest Classic

CORVALLIS, Ore. - With the tandem of senior Isaac Woods and redshirt freshman Jordan Madison leading the way, the Cougar men's golf team is tied for fifth place following the first two rounds of the Northwest Collegiate Classic at the par 72, 7,026 yard Trysting Tree Golf Course, Thursday.
The Cougars played consistent golf by shooting a 286 (-2) in the first round and a 288 (E) in the second, giving them a score of 574 (-2) for the day. They are only one of six teams to finish the day under par. The Cougars sit only five shots behind leaders Long Beach State and UC-Irvine.
Woods started off by firing a 69 (-3) in round one and closed with a 71 (-1) in the second round, to finish with a total of 140 strokes (-4) for the day. He is currently tied for fifth place along with teammate Madison, who fired a career low 68 (-4) in the second round. Madison opened with an even par 72 in the first round. Both players are only two strokes behind second place.
Senior Ryan Camp finished with a score of 145 (+1) by shooting a 71 (-1) in the first round of play and a 74 (+2) in the second. Camp is currently tied for 23rd place. Freshman Kevin Chen is tied for 36th place in his first collegiate tournament. Chen shot an opening round 72 (E), and followed it up with a 74 (+2) in the second.
Sophomore Chad Carlson finished the day with a 150 (+6). Freshman Matt Fladwood rounded out the Cougar contingent with a score of 154 (+10). The final round will tee-off Friday morning at 7:53 a.m. from the first hole and at 7:48 a.m. from the 10th tee.
