Camp and Madison Provide Two Top 10 Finishers For The Cougars

FLOWER MOUND, Texas: - Senior Ryan Camp and redshirt freshman Jordan Madison started the season off with ninth place finishes in the Mean Green Invitational, which concluded Tuesday at the par 72, 7,135 yard Lantana Golf Club course.

Camp shot a 1-over 73 in the third and final round and recorded his sixth career top 10 finish with a score of 217 (73-71-73, +1) for the tournament. In his first tournament as a Cougar, Madison entered the final 18 holes in 25th place, but fired a 1-under 71 to jump 16 positions in the standings to finish with a total of 217 (76-70-71, +1).

As a team, the Cougars finished tied for fifth place with the University of Louisville, and was only two shots behind Louisiana-Monroe and McNeese State University for third place. After firing a tournament low 282 (-6) in the second round, the team finished with a 298 (+10) in the third.

Isaac Woods finished tied for 28th, shooting a 222 (+6). Chad Carlson finished out the tournament shooting a 226 (+10) and tied for 48th along with freshman Matt Fladwood who shot a 75 (+3) in the final round. Ben Bryson rounded out the Cougar contingent tied for 79th.

"We played bad in the first round, played really well in the second round, and mediocre in the third," said Head Coach Walt Williams. "All in all, I'm not too disappointed. It was not a bad start to the season."
