Ryan Camp Wallops Texas Course For A Final Round 66 To Lead Cougars
April 5, 2003
LAREDO, Texas - Led by the final round 66 by Ryan Camp, the Washington State men's golf team climbed up three more spots to finish at 13th at the Border Olympics at the Par 72, 7,125 yard Laredo Country Club at Laredo, Texas.
Camp was just one stroke away from tying his own record-sharing mark of 65 for the Cougars best single round score. The effort thrust Camp up the leader board for an eleventh place finish after ending round two tied at 36th. Camp's 66 was also the best score of the last day by nearly three strokes.
WSU shot below 290 as a team for the second consecutive round and moved up a total of seven spots from where they sat after round one. The Cougars blistered the course in round two, scoring the second lowest total for any team at 286, and moved up four spots into 16th place before today's final round action.
Head Coach Walt Williams expected the field to be very competitive, and was proud to see the kind of fighting effort the Cougars showed in the final round.
The Cougars will swing the clubs again April 12-13 at the Sun Devil Classic at Tempe, Ariz.
