Collins, Fern Finish Tied for 13th at Inaugural Pinehurst Invitational

PINEHURST, N.C. - Washington State University men's golfers David Fern and Chris Collins each tied for 13th place at the inaugural Pinehurst Invitational, posting three-round totals of 227 (+11) at the par-72, 7,035-yard Pinehurst No. 8 Golf Course, Tuesday.

In 10 tournaments this season, Fern, a senior, has accumulated six top 25 finishes including three top 10 finishes and a tournament victory at the Inland Cup, Feb. 14. For Collins, a sophomore, the event marks the highest finish of his varsity career.

The duo led the Cougars to a ninth place team finish. With a team total of 923, the Cougars finished five strokes back of UNC Wilmington and host school East Carolina University.

Junior Ryan Witz shot 232 (+16), sophomore Kevin Chen shot 237 (+21) and sophomore Logan Toskey shot 245 (+29) to round out the scoring for the Cougars.
