You could put together a pretty good offense by starting with some of the Cougars from the past who watched Friday's workout at the LA Coliseum.

From the 1997 Rose Bowl team were receivers Kevin McKenzie and Nian Taylor. Go back a few years to one of the best backs in recent history - Steve Broussard. (Dr.) Eboni Wilson has been at practice the past two days, along with 1980's receiver Jeff Keller. Another 80's receiver Jeff Poppe was also present today. Now, where was the quarterback and the big guys up front? What is Broussard doing, you may ask. Well, he is the head coach at Diamond Ranch High and this year, in just their sixth season, won the league and finished 7-3. All of the former players who attended practice looked fit, ready to take the field again.

Practice was routine, except for running back Tony Ryan, who was poked in both eyes and is currently sporting a patch over his right eye - he hopes to have it off in a day. Ryan, by the way, is from Oklahoma and prepped in Oklahoma City before attending Santa Monica JC, one year behind teammate John Tippins.

After practice the players grabbed box lunches and headed for Disney's California Adventure, where the coaches and several players participated in a press conference, along with players and coaches from Oklahoma. (see photo gallery).

Later the players headed out in the park for a couple of hours, then gathered at ESPN Sports Zone for dinner and a shot at the many games on the second floor. No speeches, just food and fun. Then the players headed back out to Disney attractions, Disneyland or California Adventure.

Even new Cougar head coach Bill Doba took part in the action, going for a (simulated) glider flight over California. Bill said he handled the heights and quick drops just fine. No word on whether Mike Price hit any of the major attractions.

The first major press conference takes place Saturday at 9:00 a.m. for Doba and defensive stars Marcus Trufant and Jason David from the secondary, linebacker Mawuli Davis, and linemen Fred Shavies and Rien Long. Monday the offense, with Mike Levenseller and five players, take center stage.

Sunday a number of Cougar coaches and players will tour the City of Hope cancer center.
