Cougars Sign Ian Knight to National Letter of Intent

Dec. 17, 2010

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University has signed defensive end Ian Knight of Butler Community College to a National Letter of Intent, Cougar Football Head Coach Paul Wulff announced Friday.

Knight, a native of Wichita, Kan., earned 2010 All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference honorable mention honors at defensive end. The 6-2, 244-pound end recorded 56 tackles, including 14.5 for loss along with 5.5 sacks. He had seven tackles, three TFLs and two sacks in a 38-26 win at No. 3 Coffeyville and had a season-high eight tackles twice. Butler posted an 11-1 record on the season, its only loss coming in the championship game against Navarro College.

"Ian is a very athletic player who will bring speed and quickness to our pass rush," said Wulff. "It is very important to get him into our winter program and carry that development into spring ball. He brings athleticism to our defensive line, which is needed, and we're excited to have him on board."

Knight's signing brings to three the number of junior college players coach Wulff has signed this week, as Rico Forbes of Navarro College and Taylor Meighen of Kilgore College each signed an NLI Wednesday. All three are expected to enroll for spring semester, which begins Jan. 10, 2011.
