Nov. 30, 2007
PULLMAN, Wash. - Responding to numerous requests made to him regarding the current search for a new head football coach, Washington State University Director of Athletics Jim Sterk had the following comments:
"We will make no public statement regarding the hiring process or the candidates we are considering," said Sterk. "We are currently screening and researching potential candidates and are hopeful to have a new head coach in place by the first of the year."
Washington State University and former head coach Bill Doba announced this past Monday they had reached a mutual agreement to transition to the next phase for Cougar football. Doba's five-year record as head coach was 30-29, the third-best winning percentage (.508) among WSU football coaches serving five or more years.
The Cougars were 5-7 this past season, ending their campaign with a 42-35 victory over Washington in the Apple Cup.
