PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University's 2011 football game against Oregon State will be played at Qwest Field in Seattle, Athletics Director Bill Moos announced Thursday.

"Since arriving at Washington State, it has been my intent to bring a conference game to Qwest Field each year, preferably in October and with one of the Oregon schools," said Moos. "I am thrilled that the recently announced 2011 Pac-12 schedule was able to accommodate my wishes. Hopefully, ensuing schedules will provide the same opportunity."

The 2011 game against Oregon State will be played Oct. 22, and concludes a week-long Cougar presence in the Seattle area. In addition to the football game, various colleges within Washington State University have the opportunity to meet with donors and cultivate business relationships that benefit the entire campus.

"Ideally we will fill Qwest Field with a sea of crimson but if not, the proximity to Corvallis and the Oregon State fan base should lend itself to a full venue," Moos continued. "This would greatly benefit Cougar athletics in regards to scholarship opportunities and facility enhancements."

Last year WSU announced the 2011 game against UNLV would be played at Qwest Field. That game will now be played Sept. 10 in Martin Stadium. Washington State first played at Qwest Field during the 2002 campaign, when it opened the season against Nevada with a 31-7 victory. Each of the following seven years saw the Cougars host a game at Qwest Field, posting a 4-3 record in those games. Due to the way the 2010 nonconference and Pac-10 schedules came together, it was not feasible for WSU to play a Seattle game in 2010.

"The current 12-game schedule format still allows us to play five games in Pullman, including quality nonconference games and of course, the Apple Cup every other year," said Moos. "We at Washington State value our relationship with the Seattle Seahawks and Qwest Field and look forward to partnering in this event."
