PULLMAN, Wash. - Senior Jared Karstetter and redshirt junior Kyle McCartney were named to the Pac-12 Conference All-Academic Football First Team, the conference announced Thursday. Additionally, WSU had one second-team selection and six student-athletes received honorable mention honors.

Karstetter was named first team for the second consecutive season as the wide receiver continues a very impressive senior campaign. Carrying a 3.61 grade point average as a zoology (pre-dental) major, he is third on the team in receptions (45), receiving yards (507) and receiving touchdowns (4) in addition to cracking the Cougars' top 10 in career receptions (151) and receiving touchdowns (17). This fall Karstetter has been named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete, one of 16 nationally to be recognized with a $18,000 postgraduate scholarship.

McCartney, a defensive back from Edmonds, Wash., boasts a 3.80 GPA as an entrepreneurship major. A stalwart on the Cougars' special teams, he has registered 12 tackles and recovered a fumble this season.

Redshirt junior Andrei Lintz, a tight end from Meridian, Wash., was named to the second team for the second straight season. Lintz has a 3.73 GPA in sport management and has caught five passes for 69 yards, along with a touchdown, this season.

Punter Daniel Wagner, a senior entrepreneurship major (3.27 GPA) from Portland, Ore., redshirt junior defensive end Skylar Stormo, a finance major (3.05 GPA) from Everett, Wash., offensive guard John Fullington, a sophomore from Belfair, Wash., kicker Andrew Furney, a sophomore from Burlington, Wash., tight end Aaron Dunn, a redshirt freshman from Spokane and wide receiver Kristoff Williams, a redshirt freshman from Antioch, Calif., were all named honorable mention. Fullington, Furney, Dunn and Williams have yet to declare majors and carry a 3.15, 3.28, 3.87 and 3.44 GPA, respectively.
