Cougar Great Steve Gleason Honorary Captain for Saturday's Arizona State Game

PULLMAN, Wash. - Past Cougar great Steve Gleason will serve as an honorary captain during Saturday's contest against Arizona State at Martin Stadium. Gleason played football at WSU from 1996-99, ending his career with 282 total tackles, ninth-most in school history, before an eight-year career in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints. Gleason also played baseball at WSU and as a senior was named the WSU's outstanding student-athlete. Earlier this fall, Gleason revealed he has been diagnosed with ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Upon revealing he has ALS, Gleason launched Team Gleason in an effort to raise money and increase awareness of ALS, enlisting the assistance of family, friends, colleagues and former teammates. Proceeds will go to Team Gleason.
