PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State University football team practiced in full pads for the first time during its preseason camp Monday afternoon, working out for just over two hours on Rogers Field.

The Cougars held a few more hitting drills early in the workout, working on a goal line tackling drill which focused on squaring up the ball carrier and either forcing them to go backwards or sideways.

Just like the past couple days, the defense worked against an offensive line and running backs on one field on run-game drills while the defensive backs and wide receivers squared off in one-on-one battles on the west field.

In 7-vs.-7, junior Deone Bucannon and redshirt junior Casey Locker each intercepted passes. The special teams segments focused on punt coverage and kick returns.

The day’s final segment, 11-vs.-11, the defense probably won the day due to the solid day turned in by the lineman who played very physical.

The Cougars will again practice in full pads tomorrow at 2:45 p.m.
