Gibson Named to Maxwell Award Watch List

July 3, 2008

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State All-America wide receiver Brandon Gibson was named to the Maxwell Award Watch List, awarded annually to the nation's most outstanding college football player, the Maxwell Football Club announced recently.

Gibson, a senior from Puyallup, Wash., led the Pacific-10 Conference and set a WSU single-season record with 1,180 yards in 2007.

Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced in early November, and three finalists will be announced Nov. 25. The winner of the 2007 Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show in December.

Gibson is the second Cougar to be named to a national award watch list heading into 2008, as redshirt junior Kenny Alfred was named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List, awarded each year to the nation's top college center.
