June 2, 2009

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Washington State University football team was represented by six student-athletes on the Phil Steele Preseason All-Pacific-10 Conference Teams, the magazine announced today.

Kenny Alfred, a center from Gig Harbor, Wash., garnered second team honors on the offensive line. The rising senior was also named to the Rimington Trophy Spring Watch List a couple weeks ago.

Alfred was joined on offense by rising junior wide receiver Jeshua Anderson and rising senior kick returner Chantz Staden, whom were each named to the fourth team.

The Cougar defense boasted three individuals on the Preseason All-Pac-10 Fourth Team, including rising senior linebacker Andy Mattingly, rising junior safety Chima Nwachukwu and rising redshirt junior punter Reid Forrest.

WSU opens the 2009 season against Stanford Sept. 5, at Martin Stadium. For ticket information check out wsucougars.com or call 1-800-GO-COUGS.
