WEST'S HIGH SCHOOL CAREER

Coached by Angelo Gaska at Venice High, where he played tight end and free safety...also played volleyball...during his JUNIOR season at St. Monica High School team earned CIF Division-10 championship...as a SENIOR transferred to Venice High...earned first team all-league city section at tight end...made 28 catches for 600 yards and nine touchdowns.

WEST'S WSU CAREER

FRESHMAN (2001-02): Redshirt season.

RS-FRESHMAN (2002-03): V-Letter...Games - 6...Starts - 1...earned the number two tight end position in early fall camp, then missed quite a bit of camp with a pulled hamstring...returned in time to play in the first four games ...then suffered a left foot sprain and missed seven straight games before returning at UCLA.

RS-SOPHOMORE (2003-04): V-Letter...Games - 11...Starts - 0...a special teams regular in the first nine games...suffered a concussion against USC and did not play against UCLA and Arizona State, but returned to play at Washington and in the Holiday Bowl...earned the following weekly team awards: None. Special Teams: Kickoff returns, PAT/FG.

RS-JUNIOR (2004-05): V-letter...Games - 11...Starts - 0...made the switch from tight end to defensive end in spring drills...saw action on several special team units and as a reserve end...solo tackles in three straight games against Idaho, Arizona and Oregon...earned the following weekly team awards: Iron Man - Arizona. Special Teams: Kickoffs, KO Returns, FG/PAT Kicks.
