THOMPSON'S HIGH SCHOOL CAREER
Attended Sweetwater High, where he was a running back and defensive back for head coach Eric Peterson....also ran track...as a SOPHOMORE earned Metro Conference newcomer of the year honors...during JUNIOR season was all-conference first team at running back...earned all-county honors...named to the Union Tribune all-academic team...rushed for over 1,200 yards and 10 touchdowns...on defense added six sacks and 12 tackles for loss...captained the track team and was the team's MVP...won the conference championship in the 100 meter...SENIOR year earned Metro conference player of the year...made the all-conference first team as a running back...named to the second team all-county team for defensive back...was twice named player of the week by the Union Tribune News...Star News player of the week...team's offensive back of the year...had 175 chances rushing for over 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns...also added three sacks and five tackles for loss.
THOMPSON'S WSU CAREER
FRESHMAN (2001-02): V-letter...Games - 5...Starts - 1...one of six true freshmen to see action...stepped in for starter Dave Minnich when WSU went to Stanford, but suffered a high right ankle sprain in the third quarter that sidelined him for the final six games...had 32 yards until the injury...at Arizona had 10 carries for 45 yards...TD runs against California and Stanford...earned the following weekly team awards: California/Big Hit.
SOPHOMORE (2002-03): Games - 1...Starts - 0...missed the first five games because of a left shoulder injury...cleared to practice and play prior to California game, but did not play until California...re-injured his shoulder against the Bears.
JUNIOR (2003-04): Underwent shoulder surgery during fall camp and missed the entire season.
Leslie Allen Thompson...born June 13, 1983....parents Timothy and Myrtis Spears...prep GPA 3.1...high school teammates with fellow WSU recruit Trandon Harvey.
