Did not play football in high school...four-year letterwinner and two-year team captain in basketball for head coach Don Brady...garnered second-team all-league honors as a sophomore and first-team all-league honors as a junior...was also named team's best defender his junior year...as a senior once against earned first-team all-league honors, and was named team's most valuable player...second-team All-CIF.
