PULLMAN, Wash. - Members of the Washington State University men's basketball team, along with head coach Ken Bone, visited Sunnyside Elementary School in Pullman, Dec. 14, as a reward for winning `Pullman Elementary School Night' at the Cougars' game against Jackson State, Dec. 13.

Of the three elementary schools in Pullman, the one with the highest attendance at the Dec. 13 men's basketball game won a visit from members of the team. Last year the contest was class-specific and the winner received a pizza party with members of the team. The winner from last year also came from Sunnyside Elementary School.

"Our guys had a good time," Bone said. "It was great to give back to the community and see our players get involved and engage in the event. I think the little kids really enjoyed it."

Bone, Will DiIorio, Keaton Hayenga, Que Johnson, Brett Kingma, Junior Longrus and Jordan Railey all visited the school during the lunch hour, making stops at every classroom, grades kindergarten through fifth. The student-athletes were able to interact with the students, answer questions, sign autographs and take photos.

"It's important to come out and say hi to the kids," Longrus said. "I definitely had fun. The kids are funny, Coach Bone is funny, Que is funny, so going around with them to the classrooms was definitely a sight to see."

The Cougars will take on Buffalo in the Cougar Hardwood Classic, Friday, Dec. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Seattle's KeyArena.
