WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - For the second-consecutive week, Washington State University men's basketball sophomore Klay Thompson has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 23-29, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Monday.

Thompson led the Cougars to the championship at the Great Alaska Shootout. The Ladera Ranch, Calif. native earned Most Outstanding Player honors averaging 29.7 points, five rebound, 4.7 assists and two steals in wins against Alaska Anchorage, Nicholls State and San Diego.

In Wednesday's game 87-68 victory against Alaska Anchorage, Thompson led the way with 25 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He returned Friday against Nicholls State with 21 points and a career-high six assists in the Cougars' 78-69 win. Thompson then guided the Cougars to the tournament title against the San Diego Toreros with a career-high 43 points on 16-of-24 shooting. His 43-point performance broke the Great Alaska Shootout single-game and championship game scoring records, and tied Guy Williams for third on the Cougars' all-time list for points scored in a game.

For the season, Thompson is leading the conference in points, averaging 28.3 points per game, second in field goals made (58) and sixth in three-point field goal percentage (.568). He becomes the 17th men's basketball student-athlete to earn back-to-back Player of the Week honors, Patrick Christopher of California and James Harden formerly of Arizona State accomplished the feat last season.

Thompson is the third Cougar to earn a Player of the Week award twice in the same season, the first since Daven Harmeling did so in 2006-07. He is the first WSU player to garner the honor in back-to-back weeks.

This is Thompson's second weekly honor and Washington State's 21st all-time Player of the Week.

Also Nominated: Nic Wise, ARIZ; Amondi Amoke, CAL; Teondre Williams, ORE; Seth Tarver, OSU; Landry Fields, STAN
