Men's Basketball Adds to Television Schedule
Oct. 20, 2010
PULLMAN, Wash. - At least six more Washington State University men's basketball games will be televised, WSU Athletics announced Wednesday.
Fox Sports Net Northwest has picked up the Nov. 23 meeting against Portland, as part of the Cougar Hardwood Classic at KeyArena in Seattle. The game will serve as the Cougars' television debut of the 2010-11 season.
FSN Northwest will also televise five of WSU's Pacific-10 Conference games. The Cougars will be seen regionally when they travel to USC (Dec. 31), Oregon State (Feb. 5) and Arizona State (Feb. 19). Home contests against Oregon (Jan. 8) and Arizona (Jan. 22) were also added to this year's TV schedule and will be seen on FSN NW.
The six games are an addition to the previously existing TV schedule, in which second-year coach Ken Bone and the Cougars will be aired on national television for at least nine of their games.
WSU will host two nonconference television games when Kansas State (Dec. 3) and Gonzaga (Dec. 8) come to Pullman. Those games will be televised on FSN.
WSU will be seen on the ESPN family of networks at least twice during the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu in December. The Cougars' first round matchup against Mississippi State (Dec. 22) will be shown on ESPNU, as will their second game against either Baylor or San Diego (Dec. 23). Both the third-place and championship games will be televised on ESPN2 on Christmas Day.
In addition to the five regionally televised conference games, the Cougars will have four conference games televised nationally. Matchups at UCLA (Dec. 29), Arizona (Feb. 17), as well as both in-state rivalry games against Washington (Jan. 30, Feb 27), can be seen on FSN.
The March 3 contest against USC is scheduled as a wildcard game and has the chance to be picked up by ESPN, ESPN2 or FSN, while FSN or CBS has the option to air the March 5 game against UCLA.
The first eight games of the Pac-10 Men's Basketball Tournament, which takes place at Staples Center March 10-13, will be shown on FSN, while the championship game will air on CBS.
