PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State University men's and women's basketball teams will hold Midnight Mayhem for the second-straight year to celebrate the official start of the 2010-11 season. Festivities will begin Friday, Oct. 15 at 8 p.m. at Bohler Gym. As a perfect start to Dad's Weekend, the Cougars will mesmerize and fascinate the crowd with a variety of tricks, skill and talent.

The women's basketball team kicked off their season with their first practice Oct. 4. The men's team, on the other hand, will hold its first official day of practice the Oct. 15 prior to Midnight Mayhem. Be there to witness the Cougars kick off their season and give the crowd a preview of what is to be expected throughout the season.

At 8 p.m., WSU director of athletics, Bill Moos, men's head coach Ken Bone and women's head coach June Daugherty will begin the event with introductions and themselves and the teams. Both teams will open the on-court games with a 3-point contest. The men and women will compete against each other for the title of best long-range shooter. The winners from the men's and women's ends will compete against each other.

After the 3-point shoot-off, the men and women's teams will put their talents on display in a 15-minute scrimmage. The men will end the night as a handful of the high-flying Cougars will wow the crowd in a slam dunk contest.

Prizes will be offered all night with drawings and contests for audience members. Everyone will be able to pick up a team poster and autographs. Come show your Cougar pride and support the men's and women's basketball teams. Students will also be able to sign up for ZZU Cru at the event.

In addition to Midnight Mayhem, there are countless activities and events planned for Dad's Weekend. The Cougar Football team will take on the Arizona Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. Saturday October 16.
