Serbia Finishes Preliminary Action Undefeated with 84-66 victory over Australia
July 4, 2009 BELGRADE, Serbia - Washington State University men's basketball's Nikola Koprivica and his Serbian squad remained undefeated in group play as Serbia defeated Australia, 84-66, Saturday at the World University Games at Belgrade Arena. Belgrade native Koprivica dished out one assist and grabbed a rebound in Serbia's (2-0) win. He was 0-for-2 from the field. Ivan Paunic led Serbia with 15 points, while Dejan Borovnjak added a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Cameron Tovey led Australia (0-2) with 21 points, while Ben Allen added 13 points and nine rebounds. Serbia led by just three, 33-30, at the half and used a 29-21 third quarter to pull away for good. Serbia placed first in the three-team Group A after defeating both Greece and Australia. Serbia moves on to the intermediate round where it will face Finland (1-1) of Group H, Monday, July 6 at 8 p.m. local time, 11 a.m. PDT.
