PULLMAN, Wash. - Over 100 boys and girls between the ages of six and 14 attended the Washington State University Men's Basketball Day Camp on the Pullman campus, which began Monday, June 18 and wrapped up Thursday, June 21.

"I really enjoy our camps that we put on each summer here in Pullman," WSU Head Coach Ken Bone said. "My favorite thing about Day Camp is the interaction between the basketball program and the community. It's great seeing some of our biggest supporters interact with the players and learn so many skills from them. The community support during camp time is very impressive to me and I'm proud of the work and dedication the basketball staff puts into camp each summer."

The camp, which was held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily consisted of instruction by WSU Basketball staff and student-athletes, group competitions and games. This year's 100-plus campers surpassed last year's 85.

"I really liked getting to know the kids and helping them out from a coach's perspective," WSU rising-senior Mike Ladd said. "I think it's great we get to interact with the community like this, because we have a lot of Cougar fans here in the area and giving back to them is a big thing."

"I wanted to come to basketball camp because it's extra practice throughout the summer and they have a lot more skills to teach us," Twelve-year-old camper, Payton, said. "Also, it's another great chance to see my friends because I won't see them for the next two months."

"I came to camp because I want to grow up and play professional basketball and I wanted to have this experience to help me and show me what it's like," Fellow 12-year-old camper Alyssa added.

The Cougars' Day Camp is the second of three summer camps held by the men's basketball program. The program's Elite Camp took place June 16-17. The Team Camp, which will include teams from throughout the Pacific Northwest, will take place next week, June 26-29.
