PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University men's basketball's Klay Thompson will forego his senior season and remain in the NBA Draft, it was announced Sunday.

"After taking the last few weeks to make my decision about the NBA, I have decided to remain in the draft," Thompson said. "I am proud to be a Cougar and will miss my teammates, coaches, friends, the WSU community and the great Cougar fans. I am thankful for my three years at Washington State and have enjoyed my time in Pullman. My dream has always been to play in the NBA and I am excited to take the next step in making that a reality."

A native of Ladera Ranch, Calif., Thompson led the team and the Pacific-10 Conference and ranked 11th in the country with 21.6 points per game while setting the school record with 733 points during the 2010-11 season. He was named first team all-league for the second-straight season.

"Klay has done a great job of preparing himself for the NBA and we wish him nothing but the best," Bone said.

The 6-foot-7 guard ranks third in the WSU record books for career scoring with 1,756 points. His 98 3-pointers as a junior also marks a Cougar single-season record.

Today was the last day to withdraw from the draft. The NBA draft will take place June 23.
