Three Cougars Earn Pac-12 Men's Basketball All-Academic Accolades

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington State University student-athletes Abe Lodwick, Patrick Simon and Charlie Enquisthave each been named to the 2012 Pac-12 Men's Basketball All-Academic Teams, conference commissioner Larry Scott announced Thursday.
Lodwick and Simon were named to the second team, while Enquist earned honorable mention honors. Eight of the 12 conference schools had at least one representative on the three teams, as the first and second teams consisted of five student-athletes each and the honorable mention team was comprised of 10. Stanford led the way with eight representatives, while Washington State's three are the second-most. California (two), Colorado (two), Oregon State (two), Arizona State, UCLA and Oregon each had a least one men's basketball team member on one of the three teams.
This year marks the seventh-straight season a Cougar has been named to an all-academic team, and the most since WSU had four representatives on the first team in 2009. Over the last six years, WSU has earned all-academic 20 times as Lodwick, Simon and Enquist are joined by; Nikola Koprivica (2008, 2009, 2010), Aron Baynes (2007, 2008, 2009), Daven Harmeling (2007, 2008, 2009), Taylor Rochestie (2008, 2009), Robbie Cowgill (2006, 2007, 2008) and Chris Henry(2006).
Lodwick, a redshirt senior from Bend, Ore., is a communication major with a 3.22 grade point average. He is an all-academic honoree for the third time after earning first team accolades last season and second team in 2010. He averaged 7.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game in 27 contests his senior season, as he finished third in WSU's single season record books with a .462 (48-for-104) 3-point field goal percentage.
Simon, a sophomore from Ephrata, Wash., is undeclared with a 3.34 GPA. This season marks his first all-academic honors. He averaged 2.6 points and 1.1 rebounds in 23 games in 2011-12.
Enquist, a redshirt senior from Edmonds, Wash., is a mechanical engineering major with a 3.04 GPA. This also marks the first conference all-academic recognition for Enquist. He had the best season of his career in 2011-12 with 3.6 points and 3.2 rebounds per game with 22 starts in 32 games played. He shot a team-best .636 (42-for-66) from the field.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
WSU finished the 2011-12 season with a 19-18 mark, recording its sixth-straight winning record.
