AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Chris Owens scored 19 points to lead Texas to a 79-52 win over Washington State Monday night.

Owens was perfect from the field, hitting all eight of his attempts in 23 minutes of play.

Texas (4-3) used a 22-2 run in the first half, and a 19-2 spurt in the second to pull away from Washington State (4-3).

Owens scored nine points in Texas' first-half run, which was ignited by T.J. Ford's fast-break alley-oop pass to Brian Mouton for a slam. Ford capped off the run with passes to Jason Klotz and Royal Ivey for layups.

Texas led 48-29 early in the second half before putting the game away with its second big run of the game. Ivey and Sydmill Harris hit 3-pointers during the rally in which Texas built its lead to 67-31 with 10:47 to play.

Ivey, who was six-for-six from the field, finished the game with 13 points for Texas.

Texas handed Washington State its worst non-conference loss since a 98-52 loss to Michigan State in 1978.

Jerry McNair led Washington State with 14 points and Thomas Kelati had 10 rebounds.
