PULLMAN, Wash. - Senior Aron Baynes recorded 11 points and eight rebounds and freshman Klay Thompson scored a game-high 14 points, as the Washington State University men's basketball team defeated Idaho State, 60-41, Tuesday at Friel Court.

The Cougars (6-1) bounced back after their only loss of the season, a 57-43 setback to then-No. 4 Pittsburgh, Nov. 29 in Newark, N.J. The Bengals (1-5) have dropped their last five games, the first three in overtime.

WSU won the battle on the boards with 36 rebounds compared to ISU's 24. Ten of the Cougars' rebounds came on the offensive end.

"We made a couple of adjustments," WSU Head Coach Tony Bennett said. "Obviously it was a different team than Pitt that we played, but we have to try and challenge the glass, we have to drive a little bit more. I thought we were a little better in those areas."

The team's leading scorer, Thompson led the team in scoring for the third time this season. All 14 of Thompson's points came in the first half. Baynes finished the night 3-for-4 from the field and 5-for-6 from the free throw line. He had a season-high three blocked shots.

Taylor Rochestie bounced back Tuesday with nine points and five assists against just one turnover. Senior Caleb Forrest and redshirt freshman Charlie Enquist put up 14 of the Cougars' 17 bench points. Enquist recorded his career-high six points in just five minutes of action. Freshman DeAngelo Casto tied for game-high honors with eight rebounds. He added three points and three steals.

Amorrow Morgan and Donnie Carson led Idaho State with nine points apiece. Morgan, the team's leading scorer averaging 19.2 points prior to Tuesday's game, was held to 3-for-10 shooting from the field. He dished out a team-high three assists.

"The defense was solid, Klay did a good job on their leading scorer," Bennett said. "I thought we were stingy defensively and protected our home court. His (Klay's) length can be a factor. It's a little harder to shoot over Klay because he's longer."

The Cougars held the Bengals to just 15 first-half points, holding a 30-15 advantage at intermission. Idaho State staged a comeback in the second period, but couldn't overcome the early deficit.

Washington State continues its three-game homestand as it hosts 24th-ranked Baylor, Saturday, Dec. 6 at Friel Court at 8:30 p.m.
