PULLMAN, Wash. -- Senior J Locklier (Rock Hill, S.C.) recorded a career-high 40 points and added 11 rebounds for his second straight double-double to lead Washington State to a 102-80 win over Centenary, Saturday.

The game ended the season for both teams. Washington State improved to 6-21 and Centenary fell to 14-13.

The 40 points by Locklier are the fifth most in Cougar history. It was the first time since Brian Quinnett tallied 44, Jan. 29, 1989 against USC that a WSU player scored 40 or more points.

Locklier connected on 11 of 19 field goal attempts and added 18-for-23 shooting from the foul line.

Freshman Thomas Kelati (Walla Walla) and junior Jerry McNair (Torrance, Calif.) added 13 and 12 points, respectively for the Cougars.

Centenary's Andrew Wisniewski tied Locklier for game-high scoring honors with 40 points on 11-for-19 shooting, including 7-for-13 from three-point range. He also went 11-for-12 at the foul line.

The game was close at the beginning as the lead changed hands eight times in the first seven minutes while neither team led by more than three points.

The Cougars stretched their lead to 46-35 at intermission on the strength of an 8-2 run to close the half. Kelati and McNair both contributed three-pointers during the spurt.

In the second half, WSU led by as many as a dozen at 53-41 before a 10-2 Centenary run brought the Gents to within 55-51 with just under 14 minutes to play.

The Cougars finally took command with a 9-2 run to increase their lead to 73-62 at the 8:24 mark. Senior Mike Bush (Riverside, Calif.) drilled a three-pointer followed by a pair of Locklier layups and a layup by sophomore E.J. Harris (Los Angeles, Calif.). From there, Centenary never got closer than seven points.
