CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Brandon Payton scored 21 points as Oregon State defeated Washington State 91-55 Saturday night.

Philip Ricci and J.S. Nash each added 14 points for the Beavers (12-15, 4-12 Pac-10), whose point total was a season high.

Thomas Kelati scored 17 points and Marcus Moore added 14 to lead the Cougars (5-20, 1-16 Pac-10), who have lost 18 of their last 19 games.

Washington State got to within 11 points in the second half, but the Beavers scored the next 17 points to open a 66-38 lead with 10:34 to play.

Payton, a one-year transfer from UC Santa Barbara, matched his season-high record by making 8 of 10 shots from the field, including 4-of-5 from behind the 3-point line. The Beavers made their first 20 free throws before David Lucas missed at the line with 2:56 left.

After missing their first shot, the Beavers made eight straight field goals and their first five free throws to take a 23-11 lead six minutes into the game.

Kelati's third 3-pointer brought Washington State to within 30-22, but the Cougars would get no closer as the Beavers scored the next 10 points.
